Neel is a collection of 12 one-of-a-kind hand-painted porcelain plates. Inspired by Ponti’s visits to Rajasthan, in the North-west of India, the plate design is a modern take on classic Indian architecture, frescos and bas-reliefs. Geometric patterns and lines blend with floral prints and stylized natural features such as mountains and clouds. Neel, Hindi for indigo, is the typical color of interior and exterior decorations in Rajasthan. A combination of different techniques such as sfumato, ombre sponge, brush and fountain pen make each plate one-of-a-kind and give the entire collection its vibrant expression. The plates were hand-painted by Italian porcelain artist Ivana Calegari, the photographs were taken by Italian photographer Antonio Muroni.
